YOU HEARD US ON YOUR TELEPHONE?
If you've been to our
MySpace profile
lately, you'll have noticed all sorts of cool little buttons for adding Moonlife ringtones and wallpaper to your cellphone. This is some cool new technology from Bango that lets you send items from the web to your phone. We were part of their demonstrations, so you can join the fun and try the links!
By the way, not every cellphone is supported as this is pretty new technology. European cellphones seem to have better luck than US ones, but you won't know until you try it for yourself.
Have fun!

LOTS MORE REVIEWS
This month we're seeing lots more reviews of our CD "Reach The Stars".
Here's one from Underground
Press.:
And one from the wonderfully named The
Wig Fits All Heads:
'If
Moonlife’s Reach the Stars doesn’t remind you of
the
deliriously happy (at least on the surface) keyboard-heavy alternative
pop on Jim Keller’s "Resurrection Flashback Sunday" program
on
Seattle’s KNDD-FM, then you’re deaf. "I Heard You
(On the
Telephone)", with its insanely catchy, simple chorus and Atari 2600
bleeps, is the Buggles hit that never was. The nostalgia factor is
high, and Moonlife takes you back, whether you like it or not, into the
clubs.
What’s shocking is that Reach the Stars is far more
consistent
than many of the records it owes its influences to. There are plenty
more splendid tracks on here, for example, than on any of the LPs by
Real Life and Re-Flex, and Q-Feel can’t hold a candle to
these
lads. "Can’t Stop" and "Angel" have the cozy feel of a
high-school jacket that still fits and brings back memories.' - Karla
Ash
Click here for the full review at The Wig Fits
All Heads.
And another from CD
Reviews:
'On
Reach the Stars, Moonlife are dancing in heaven, utilizing layers
of vintage New Romantic keyboard sounds to create their own form of
orbital be-bop.
To most music listeners in their thirties, Reach the Stars covers
familiar terrain: the bouncy, electronic chorus of "I Heard You (On the
Telephone)" recalls the Buggles’ "Video Killed the Radio
Star";
"Cruel" is reminiscent of vintage New Order; and the other tracks
reveal the influence of Erasure and Depeche Mode.
Now Moonlife are caught in a Catch-22 – too commercial for
the
independent scene, too independent for the commercial scene. But with a
group like the Bravery penetrating the mainstream with even more
synthesizers and Duran Duran-styled vocal hooks, Moonlife is going to
Reach the Stars eventually...' - Michael Sutton

review at CD Reviews.
STUDIO MOVE
Ah, the fun of moving! The piles of boxes... the lost equipment... the
misplaced instruments... actually, it wasn't that bad, but we moved our
studio to a slightly bigger location so we'll be getting back to work
on the album as soon as we get plugged in again!

since we played out, so we hope to see you there!
THANKS, WE THINK...
We're not sure what to make of this review of our CD "Reach The Stars".
We think it's good, but this chap definitely seems
hard to please!
'These
guys have had their fair share of poppy gothic leaning techno.
They're routed firmly in the New Order frameset of music. It's not all
bad, in fact "Angel" is probably as catchy and awesome as any 80's era
techno outfit could manage to create. A lot of folks will cast this off
as derivative and that's the falling point of this record; it's easily
classifiable and certainly predictable but that doesn't make it any
less fun.' - J-Sin

EMBRACE
YOUR INNER WAVE (SHOES AND REVIEWS?)
Another great review of our CD "Reach The Stars"
has just appeared online at Shotgun
Reviews.
Check out the great "shoe" rating that they use!
'People seem to have a
guilt
complex when it comes to admitting a preference for certain
‘80s
New Wave artists. Of course, this isn’t case with New Wave
fans
that have no problems with walking in public in a Depeche Mode T-shirt.
But for the most part the synthesizer brotherhood from the NW family
often gets tossed in the “guilty pleasures”
category as if
listening to Bronski Beat or the Human League is equal to watching
Jerry Springer or downloading Asian porn. There’s nothing to
be
ashamed of, the electronic pop group Moonlife seem to be saying on
their album cover, proudly garbed in glam and gothic threads that
scream totally ‘80s (and also late ‘70s). Well,
their
self-confidence is understandable; you, too, would have your head up
after releasing one of the year’s best albums.' - Kyrby Raine

MORE
NEW REVIEWS
Two more reviews of our CD "Reach The Stars"
have just appeared online.
'Vintage synthesizers pour from the walls, creating a retro high-tech
atmosphere that is impossible to resist if you spent your adolescence
grooving to Erasure, Yaz and Depeche Mode. Track after track of
keyboard-washed sublime pop; even the instrumental "Quarantine" is
worthy of repeated spins. Moonlife carve dreamy textures, filling in
the spaces with romantic crooning (best on the blue valentine "Cruel,"
which recalls Lloyd Cole, albeit with synthesizers) and lush, swishing
keyboards. The utilization of both male and female vocals is a nice
touch. There's a tinge of sadness to these songs, which has always been
the New Wave style. "No More" serves as a woman's reaction to "Cruel,"
melancholy, rainy-day balladry with that loving '80s caress. This is an
extraordinary disc, one that is nostalgic and entertaining from
beginning to end.' - Kyrby Raine
Click
here for the full review.
'Somebody must've shot through the fabric of reality, bolted into the
'80s, and kidnapped Moonlife for today's consumption. Moonlife
certainly do not long belong in this time period and bless them for
that.
... bleeping synthesizers, ice-cube English vocals, sad-sack lyrics.
Moonlife is a reminder of how those sounds are deeply missed.
Avoiding the post-punk angle recently adopted by a flock of U.K.
upstarts, Moonlife head straight to the computer room - or the nearest
dance club. Pogo-inducing numbers such as "I Heard You (On The
Telephone)" and "Can't Stop" would've been slobbered over by KROQ's
Richard Blade back in the day.
But it's not just about dancing in heaven for these 24 hour party
people. "Cruel" is perhaps the finest love-will-tear-us-apart again
ballad since Prefab Sprout's "When Love Breaks Down" in 1985.' - Barry
Andrews

VIDEO GAME

appearing in a new video game that should be in the arcades later this
year. It's a dance game, similar to the famous "Dance Dance
Revolution",
so get your dancing shoes on, grab a roll of quarters, and head down to
the video arcade!
NEW UK REVIEW
Our last CD "Reach
The Stars" has been getting noticed again and there
are
new reviews starting to appear! Here's one that just appeared in the
UK:
'Grunge may have killed the New Wave star, but it was only temporary. A
line from a Stephen King short story perhaps summed it the best:
sometimes they come back.
And while the New Wave revival, headed from the Top of the Pops by the
Killers and Franz Ferdinand, is no longer breaking news, Moonlife
rocket into mostly synthetic waters that today's popular Neo acts have
yet to fully plunge into. Shockingly, not only does Moonlife accurately
rewind to mid-'80s club daze, they have recorded an album that can be
held next to the finest from electro-pop heroes such as Soft Cell,
Erasure, and the Pet Shop Boys.
Rating: 9 stars'

SUMMER
OF '79?
While going through my Dad's record collection we found an old vinyl 45
with an
early recording of Angel
by Moonlife. Recorded in 1979, it's a bit of a puzzle:
Did Moonlife re-record this song for their 2003 album Reach The Stars, or will
time-travel be discovered in time for them to go back to 1979 and
record the
original version?
[ Here's where the theme music to X-Files
would play... ;-) ]
Go and decide the truth for yourself! We've uploaded the "Summer

Angel onto our music page

THE CHICK SHOW #1 VIDEO
We've
just heard that our music
video for "Over You" was voted the #1
video on Santa Cruz Local TV Channel's "The Chick Show".
The video was
entered into a competition that the show was running and a panel of
voters on the show picked Moonlife as the winning entry. Hurrah! And
congratulations also go to DV
Betty who made our video
possible. Thanks DV Betty!

XMAS
SHOP TILL YOU DROP (SALE! SALE! SALE!)
It's
shopping frenzy time again! Yep, it's that time of the year when you
sit on Santa's lap and ask him if his beard is really real while all
the shops try to entice you to buy lots of goodies. So, who are we to
miss out on all the fun?
This month we are DROPPING ALL PRICES of Moonlife merchandise on our
website. Get the latest Moonlife album, and a lot more, for prices
that'll have the RIAA crying for months. Oh wait, they already do that.
Click the "Merch" link above. This sale ENDS on Christmas Day!
GOODBYEEEEEEE... MP3.COM
MP3.com closed its site yesterday at noon. Some might say good riddance
after the way that Universal/Vivendi ran the site after purchasing it a
year ago. But even with its newly acquired corporate attitude, mp3.com
continued to be a community of independent artists unlike any other. It
was huge and well-interconnected in a way that introduced us to bands
all over the world that we would never have heard of otherwise, not to
mention gaining us a few fans in far off places who would never have
encountered us any other way. We'll miss it.
WHAT DO WE WANT FOR XMAS?
Claudio would like to be able to walk for Christmas, or at least enough
money to buy a bionic leg. Cassaundra wants world peace and shiny high
heels (not necessarily in that order). Bill wants a robot servant with
laser-beam eyes and some mince pies for it to serve. And lastly, we all
want you to enjoy our music, so download as much free music as you can
and buy as many cheap items off our site as you can! Hurrah!

CLAUDIO
INJURED IN MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT
Moonlife singer Claudio was in
a motorcycle accident last thursday, in which he suffered a broken
ankle. He's currently recovering, but will need to be off his feet for
a few weeks.
We would like to apologize to our fans for having to cancel our show at
the Gaslighter thursday night. Claudio assures me that he would much
rather have been there than in the emergency room at SF General.
Being the trooper that he is, Claudio is still hoping to perform at the
Castro St Halloween street festival in SF on friday night. We'll keep
you posted.
After that though, Moonlife will be taking a few weeks off from live
performance while Claudio gets himself back on two feet.

IT'S
BEEN QUIET... TOO QUIET
What's
the latest news about the strangely absent moonlife? Have they been
abducted? Are they trapped in a space-time rift forever reliving
Groundhog Day over and over again? Or have they just been watching too
many b-movies?
None of
the above! We've been hard at work in the studio putting our finishing
touches on the forthcoming second album, titled "Reach The Stars"! Soon
you'll be able to take home your very own shiny silver disc and enjoy
the full stereophonic sensation of songs like "I Heard You (On The

KEYBOARD
MAGAZINE FEATURE
Ah
yes... ebony and ivory, the colours of the keyboard. But this month
sees glitter and glamour added to the mix!
MOONLIFE have been chosen by Keyboard
as
the "Unsigned Artist Of The Month" for their current November issue!
Pick up a copy this month wherever music magazines are sold, turn to
page 15,
and "read all about it!" as the saying goes.
We're dead chuffed (erm, very happy) about being picked and having the
chance
to appear in a magazine that's read all over the world. Now our
sinister plans
for world domination can begin! Bwah, hah, hah!
OVER AND
OVER AND OVER YOU
A wise
man once said "I just can't get enough, I just can't get enough!" and,
even though The Gap used those solemn words in an advert, who are we to
argue?
We can't get enough of our song "Over You" and so we've mixed and
remixed
and fixed it into the following lovely formats for you to listen to and
watch:
"Over
You" The new "Double
Oh Deux" remix:
"Over
You" The music video:
"Over You" The original "album
version":
We know that MP3.COM ask you to enter an email address to listen to
online music,
so feel free to enter someone else's address! We recommend entering
"support@mp3.com" as
they're such lovely people. No really.
Go get your fix now!
LIVE105
Again, HUGE thanks to the SF bay area fans that phone up LIVE105
to
request us! Keep making those requests as we'll be back in the area
soon and
want to hear YOU requesting us!
SIGHTINGS
Keyboardist Bill's alter ego, Tristan Shout, will be performing at
Trannyshack
next tuesday (Oct 22). It's Imposter Night (the evening when you can't
tell who's
who at Trannyshack), and Bill, erm Tristan, will be impersonating SF
legend Timmy
Spence.
WASSUP?
Yes, we've been a bit quiet lately because we've been in the recording
studio
working on new songs for our next album. We've been performing some of
the new
ditties for a while now, so look for them to appear on the next album.
Shortlisted
tracks include "Can't Stop", "I Heard You (On The Telephone)", "Angel",
"Failing" and
a couple of surprises for you. When? Erm... soon. Ish.
Drop us a line and let us know which songs you love the most! We'd hate
to leave
it off the new album!
And finally, don't forget that "Across The Night" (featuring "Over
You", "Satellite" and the notorious "Jesus Freak") is
still available online and at good record shops near you. Half the
pressings
are gone, so get yours while they're still available!

LIVING
ON VIDEO
Seeing is believing! The latest sighting of the universe's most
glamourous synthpop
band can be downloaded from:
http://169.237.227.235/mlvid/overyou.avi
This
music video for the song "Over You" was shot earlier this year and
features Claudio, Bill and Cassaundra at their glittery best. Why so
long for a video, you ask? Well the first music video "Moon Life (Out
Of Reach)" was shot back in 2000 but the director ran off with the
footage! After that came the promo shoot for San Francisco's Indie Film
Fest in which Claudio and Bill can be seen rocking with Blue Period to
their version of Queen's "We Will Rock You". Although being shown in
cinemas across San Francisco in 2001 the promo's director moved to New
York and deleted the master tapes! Finally, after top-secret
negotiations with DVbetty.com, Moonlife were able to thwart the "curse
of the dodgy video director" and shoot a music video for "Over You".
